DCB Bank has launched an Aadhaar-based ATM usage facility wherein customers can transact using biometric details instead of PIN. The customers can also do the transaction without the use of a card. Users can enter 12-digit Aadhaar number or swipe the card at an ATM to start a transaction. It requires a finger print punch rather than the PIN at the stage of confirming the identity. Seeding the bank account with the Aadhaar number will be essential before a customer can use the facility. The technology, developed in-house involves connecting up with the Aadhaar server to authenticate the identity of the customer every time a transaction is initiated. DCB Bank CEO Murali Natrajan said the technology is a comparatively inexpensive solution. The bank, which currently has 400 ATMs, is targeting to cover its entire network under the system within a year, he said.
