Bharatiya Mahila Bank launches RuPay card

img_0165Bharatiya Mahila Bank and the National Payments Corporation of India have launched ‘BMB RuPay Chip Card’. Usha Ananthasubramanian, CMD, Bharatiya Mahila Bank and A.P. Hota, MD & CEO, NPCI unveiled the card at an event in Mumbai. The bank and NPCI exchanged membership agreements to begin RuPay issuance and the use of National Financial Switch’s ATM network across the country. The bank is a 100% chip card issuer, with 23 ATMs. It has now joined NFS as 83rd direct member. NFS currently has 320 operational banksusing the network. The cards are live on ATMs and Merchant PoS terminals. Hota said this is a significant moment where country’s first mahila bank will be issuing RuPay cards to its customers. RuPay cards has been growing at a tremendous pace and with the bank launching RuPay chip cards for its account holders, RuPay will reach every household and be the primary card of use, he added.
