Ahmedabad will be the venue for the African Development Bank’s 2017 annual ‘Transforming Agriculture for Wealth Creation in Africa’ meeting. It will be held from May 22 to 26 and the Governors of the AfDB from the 54 regional member countries and 26 non-regional member countries will participate. The annual meetings provide a unique forum for representatives of government, business, civil society, think-tanks and academia from Africa and beyond to debate key issues on Africa’s development, and to discuss the bank’s performance in delivering on its mandate. Addressing delegates at the 2nd Annual Meetings of the New Development Bank in New Delhi recently, Akinwumi Adesina, president, AfDB invited NDB, led by K.V. Kamath, to support ‘light up and power Africa’. He commended the speedy take-off and approvals of $1.5 billion worth of projects, some of them in Africa.
