Kotak Mahindra Bank is now allowing customers to open zero balance 811 account through multiple digital platforms. The bank had earlier allowed such account openings only through a mobile app. The bank said in a statement this facility is being provided to make it more convenient for a customer to open a bank account through various digital channels, including computers instantly from anywhere in India. Kotak 811 account offers 6% interest rate on the savings as against others which have lowered to 3.5% per annum. Launched in March 2017, Kotak 811 is India’s first savings account that can be opened by just downloading the bank’s app and authenticating oneself with Aadhar credentials via OTP. Now, the same can also be done even without downloading the app, via mobile or desktop browsers.
