Karnataka SLBC meeting tracks progress

SLBC Karnataka meeting in progressAt the 134th meeting of SLBC Karnataka, it was shared that banks in Karnataka have opened 86.81 lakh BSBD accounts under PMJDY as of 05.02.2016, of which, 27.02 lakh accounts are with zero balance and the remaining 59.79 lakh accounts with balance of Rs1032.60 cr. The banks also issued 75.92 lakh RuPay cards. Karnataka stands at number 1 position in implementation of the PMMY as per DFS. The banks sanctioned Rs6078.46 cr against targeted Rs7868.86 cr as on 5.2.2016.

Canara Bank sought the government assistance for mobilizing the non-loan farmers for insurance coverage. Syndicate Bank requested the government to provide gram panchayat-wise list of farmers to cross-check with the list of loan farmers for ensuring coverage of all the non-loan farmers.

2662 loans have been disbursed in Karnataka amounting to Rs146 cr and the outstanding is 7139 accounts amounting to Rs2209 cr as on 31.12.2015 under the Negotiable Warehouse Receipts scheme.

Another drawback is that against the target of 8000 weavers credit cards, the banks in Karnataka have issued merely 646 cards with a limit of Rs306 lakhs as on 31.12.2015, leaving a big gap.
