John Flint will be the CEO of HSBC. The decision has been taken by Mark Tucker, who became the first externally-appointed chairman of the bank on 1 October. Flint heads HSBC’s retail and wealth management business. He will take over as the new CEO in February 2018, when Stuart Gulliver retires after 7 years in the job. Flint has worked in HSBC since 1989 and has experience in most of the bank’s businesses. He has been in Asia for 14 years. Tucker said in a statement, Flint has a great understanding and regard for HSBC’s heritage and the passion to build the bank for the next generation. There were suggestions that HSBC may appoint its first external CEO, but this has been scotched
