Speaking at SIBOS 2016, IBM CEO Ginni Rometty shared her commitment to the banking sector when she mentioned that IBM has been a regular partner at SIBOS since the last 40 years. She added, happily, that she is the first CEO from IBM to speak at SIBOS. In light of the mass adoption of digital ecosystems, she raised the issue that when every bank becomes digital, what factor will determine the winners? She herself responded with the explanation that digital is the foundation and not the destination for the banks, and asserted that it was cognitive computing that would determine the winners. She shared another useful insight – unlike other technologies that become obsolete as time goes by, cognition would continue to increase in value over time.
