Bank of Baroda has facilitated a village to go fully cashless. Dhasai village in Murbad taluka of Thane district in Maharashtra has all its shops provided with POS machines from the bank and the villagers have been trained on the use of digital modes to effect cashless transactions. The facility was formally launched by Maharashtra minister of finance, planning and forest Sudhir Mungantiwar. The villagers claimed all their initial anxiety and doubts about the hassles of going digital have been replaced by enthusiasm and are excited about being a role-model for others to follow and are confident in bringing about increase in their business. The bank in collaboration with local NGOs cleared initial hesitancy among the rural population by conducting educative camps and preparing the villagers for cashless transactions. The function was attended by Navtej Singh, GM, Jayant Rao, DGM, and Sridhar Rao, DGM, Bank of Baroda, and other dignitaries.
