YES Bank has appointed former Competition Commission of India chairman Ashok Chawla as its non-executive part-time chairman from October. The bank said it has received approval from the Reserve Bank for the appointment. Chawla will have a term of three years. He has been an independent director on the board of the bank since 5 March 2016. With over 40 years of experience as a civil servant, Chawla had held various secretarial jobs with the central government. He also worked with various multilateral bodies and headed public sector enterprises. At present, he is the chairman of NSE and chairs the governing council of The Energy and Research Institute (TERI).
